Welcome to the LL3D project!

Are you a practitioner who works in the field of education and training? Have you heard the terms MUVEs, or Second Life? Do you work within the field of European Lifelong Learning? The LLL3D project is promoting opportunities for teachers, trainers, researchers to discover, learn about and utilise different “learning scenarios” for virtual worlds. Our learning scenario approach provides access to best practice case studies across formal, non formal and informal levels and different sectoral activities. The flexibility of the LLL3D case-study repository allows new learning scenarios to be created that directly address design solutions for your particular context and setting.

The use of MUVEs in education is increasingly becoming a reality in the European context. The potential of the use of 3D virtual worlds in learning and teaching is immense, as they enable the creation of online learning based on any of the  didactical and methodological approaches already used in traditional and distance learning settings and allow for the implementation of multiple combinations of approaches within one single environment.

Rather than adopting an “enthusiasts” approach that views the use of MUVEs as the only way to solve the majority of current problems in education, the LLL3D problem aims to address the general lack of structured support for practitioners that is evident in the majority of existing educational projects in Second Life, by :

  • providing concrete services and tools that will support European practitioners in using MUVEs in relation to their work context and experience
  • establishing a community of researchers, teachers and practitioners who are interested in using MUVEs in Lifelong Learning
  • raising awareness and increasing acceptance of the educational use of MUVEs among researchers, trainers, practitioners and multipliers in Europe.

Don’t wait any longer. Join our community, try our services and discover our island in Second Life!

Our best,

The LLL3D team
